I made my way to the Gathering Place the morning of November 1st, 2019 to film the wedding of Kirstie Lewis and Bradley Good. It was a bit of a drive from Pittsburgh and I remember the entire way there feeling so excited for the day to come. I had learned some of Kirstie and Brad’s story over a yummy chai latte at Oakmont Bakery a month or so before the big day and my goodness, did they give me butterflies?! Learning more about them and talking through their plans had me dying for the moment I’d get to witness their celebration come to life.
I arrived at Darlington Lake on that cool Fall morning and my jaw dropped at the breathtaking view! Not only are Kirstie and Brad gorgeous, but they’d chosen the most romantic and serene place to exchange their personalized marriage vows. I thought to myself, “These beautiful humans have placed their faith in MEEEE to capture the magic of this divine day?!” This was the opportunity of a lifetime and I couldn’t let them down!
I was thrilled to team up with Caitlyn and Matt of CaitWirkPhoto and am so grateful they offered to share a few aerial shots they snagged of the venue with their drone. They get all the credit for the opening shot of this film!
The girls had an entire cozy cabin to themselves for the morning where they snuggled up for photos in matching flannel shirts and had their hair and makeup done. From the very start, the entire bunch of Kirstie’s friends and family were so welcoming and invited me to help myself to snacks and drinks. I was sad I hadn’t packed my bags to spend the night!!
Before the ceremony, Kirstie opened a heartfelt letter from Brad that he’d signed with a paw print from their Siberian Husky Drago. She sent a letter of her own over to her groom to open before they’d meet at the alter. I loved that they made time for so many special moments like this!!!
Music played as guests took their seats along the water. The crowd rose to their feet when Kirstie appeared in the distance, lovelier than Cinderella, joining her mom and dad for a walk down the aisle. My heart melted as Brad smiled at the sight of his bride. I loved watching the little girls take her in, simply enchanted by her beauty!!
A close friend of the Lewis family officiated the ceremony and led Kirstie and Bradley through their vows. This was just the start to a sentimental evening full of stories of the bride and groom and their caring hearts.
Kirstie created her own centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnieres. (YOU GO GIRL!!!) Every little piece of decor came together beautifully in their sun soaked, barn ballroom overlooking the lake. This was my first time at the Gathering Place and I was simply blown away by every bit of the venue!! Oh, and 5 stars for the food from Medure’s catering!!!
I am eternally grateful that these high school sweethearts invited me along to share in this incredible celebration!! This day will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Good!!!
