Hi friends! My name is Shannon Chavez and I’m a Photographer and Filmmaker from Pittsburgh, PA. I love, LOVE! I’m wedding obsessed and am thrilled to be planning a wedding of my own in Summer, 2020!
Positive vibes are my jam! My mornings begin with yoga and hot lemon water, followed by multiple cups of coffee! Sunshine makes me happy, but so do rainy days. I talk to my house plants… they all have names! To relax, I light candles, drink tea and pet my cats. My mom is my hero and my best friend.
On my days off, Alex (my fiance) and I love to travel and try new breweries! We cook at home often and love to entertain. Aldi is our favorite store! We throw parties whenever we can, especially when dressing up is involved. We take pride in dominating the Halloween costume game every year!
I’ve been snapping photos and shooting videos all my life and I’m lucky to say that over time, my favorite hobby has evolved into a fulfilling career!
Back in June 2014, I began my professional career in journalism as an anchor, reporter and producer for WDTV 5 News in Bridgeport, WV. My team and I were awarded Best Morning Newscast by the WVBA in 2016. In April 2016 I moved home to Pittsburgh to pursue my love for photography and cinematography.
In the Fall of 2016, I fell into the wedding industry and quickly discovered that it’s where I was meant to be. Since then, I’ve worked with more than 40 couples to plan and capture some incredible wedding days! I find pure joy and fulfillment in helping my clients to look back on life’s precious moments and cherish the memory of time spent celebrating with loved ones.
My true passion for shooting and producing blossomed during my time in college. I graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations. There, I worked to develop a larger social media presence for our Athletic Department and with a small team of interns, produced dozens of videos featuring interviews with athletes and coaches, game highlights and documentaries for GoDuquesnse.com.
Over the next few years, I landed internships with the Pittsburgh Penguins and KDKA-TV that set me up for a future in media and broadcasting. So much of my success can be credited to the opportunities and connections that came from those experiences.
